What varieties of apples do you offer for picking?

We offer the following varieties for picking, in season: See our descriptions for more details!

  • Cortland
  • Mutsu
  • Stayman
  • Fuji
  • Granny Smith

Please check our Facebook page to see what is ripe and ready to harvest from week to week during the season. We are slowly expanding our orchard, so if there’s an apple variety that you think we should grow… let us know!

Can I pick my own apples?

Yes! We love it when our customers come to pick their own apples and enjoy the beautiful Pennsylvania fall weather. We have a limited amount of hand carts that can also be used if you are in the mood to pick a lot of apples! The orchard is very close to the parking lot so most people can walk there without trouble.

I don’t have time to pick my own, can you do it for me?

We always have a selection of apples that have been picked ahead of time so if you don’t want to pick your own then there are plenty to choose from. If there is something you would like to have available when you get there, please call us and we may be able to have it ready for you.

So what’s it going to cost me?

We don’t have an entrance fee or minimum per person requirements, you just pay for what you pick/buy. All apples aside from Honeycrisp are the same price, so you can mix and match as well. Current pricing as of September 2024:

Pick Your OwnRetail Price Honey Crisp
1/2 PeckN/A$8$12
1 Peck$12$12$18
1/2 Bushel$20$22$30

What are the best apples for making applesauce?

Everyone seems to have their own favorites, personally we love to mix several varieties for lots of flavor! From the varieties we grow, Cortland is a popular applesauce apple as it cooks down quickly, and can make a fun “pink” applesauce when cooked with the skins.

What are the best apples for baking?

Again, many people have their preferred baking apple…Granny Smith is an all time favorite of many with it’s tart flavor. We love to use a mix of Stayman and Mutsu since they hold their shape well and have a fun flavor combo!
